I visited this New Mexican restaurant in Santa Fe, and the food was incredibly delicious! It gave me the vibe of visiting your great aunt's house, where you're welcomed with open arms and treated to a hearty meal before heading back out into the world. The atmosphere was just so comfy and inviting--definitely a place to savor every bite!
As an update to my previous review, this place is still as good as 6 years ago! Still super-crowded and has excellent service. This time I had the grilled veggie enchilada which was very good, however take the advice of their sign near the entrance and get the chile sauce on the side, even their green chile is hot!
We had a late lunch at Tomasita's today and I cannot say too many good things about our meal! The whole dining experience was FANTASTIC! No, you don't know me, but I have food allergies that make dining out a royal pain. I'm allergic to soy (in all forms), black beans, seafood (fish and shell), and iodine. Finding a place where I can enjoy a meal (other than home) is extremely difficult! Tomasita's staff were totally great! Friendly, open, honest, helpful, and caring! And that's just the first view! They were up front that I couldn't have anything fried, but they said they could accommodate me and make me a good meal. I've heard that before and been let down, it NOT with Tomasito's!!! Their staff went out of their way to make sure I could eat and the meal was top notch!!! They didn't do like so many restaurants do ... they didn't just shoo me away because allergies are difficult. Nope, nada! They said come on in, welcome, and we will find a way to make you a good meal and boy did they deliver!!! Matt and Rodrigues (sp?) were very friendly helpful, and so very kind!!! When you have allergies, it's easy to feel like an outcast. Tomasita's made me feel like part of the family! Allergy friendly and beyond! If you have allergies and want a GOOD and DELICIOUS meal, try Tomasita's and I believe you will not be disappointed! P.S. The food and service were so good that I forgot to take a picture. Check it out for yourself!
I just had the best 5+ experience at Tomasita's! Since this is my first time in NM, my server, Maximo or "Max" recommended the Tuesday Atrisco Plate which came with a chili relleno, blue corn chicken enchilada, beef taco, refried beans and Spanish rice. The variety was great so that I could sample a lot of different items. The green chile and red chile were so tasty! The meal also came with their awesome freshly made sopaipilla served with butter and honey. The serving was really large so I had plenty of leftovers. As a bonus, I received a Yelp check-in offer of free chips and salsa. All of the food was very flavorful and delicious. The restaurant was super busy, which is always a good sign, but the food came out quickly despite the tables all being full. I also had a house margarita which was perfect, not too sweet and not too tart. Besides the great food, the service was outstanding starting with the host who seated me. He was pleasant and friendly and seated me at a cute table next to a window. (Many times solo travelers get stuck by the kitchen door but this was not the case, at all, here.) Max was an attentive and wonderful server. The manager was also very visible and came by my table twice to check in with me and to ask about the food. Great service, delicious food, and lively ambiance. You can't ask for more than that! I will definitely be returning!
On our quest to find the best Taco, Tomasita's was a place of interest. It is Family owned and this weekend their 50th anniversary. Started with chips and salsa, worth the try. Remember to save room. Serving sizes here are enough for two people. Beef hard shell taco were very tasty. You can order 1 to 3. Flauntas meal is huge. 4 flauntas, rice, refried , salsa, pico, guacamole. Chicken filling in flauntas is seasoned wonderful, I may even say best I've had to date. Sopaipilla with meals with a honey butter. Omg. Light and very tasty. We sat outside, only a few tables. One note: outside seats are metal and would be nice to have a pad. You are not spending hours so it was fine. Food is served timely. Staff checks on you to make sure you are good. Come hungry, order appropriately because we overdid it not knowing how large platters are. We did not have any room for dessert. Prices are reasonable. We ordered. 2 beers, chips/salsa, 3 tacos, flauntas meal $48 total. Way too much food for two people, unless you are planning on taking leftovers home .
Another recommendation in the area was from a friend. Great suggestion. It's typical New Mexican food, but it's still delicious. There is a Yelp check-in discount (at least when we visited). The sopopillas were off the hook! Quick service for seating and food delivery. It was a little difficult to get hot sauces, but eventually, we got something that was enough to kick the heat up to a level that I liked.
This was my first stop in Sante Fe and turned out to be my favorite restaurant. I had a long day of traveling and wanted to treat myself to a savory meal and man, Tomasita's did not disappoint. Although super busy, the staff makes it a point to always check in with you. I orders the chicken enchiladas, spicy and full of flavor but what won my heart over was their sopaipillas, its fluffy with a hint of sweetness that pairs wonderfully with their honey like butter, gosh, my mouth is drooling just typing this. The manager came over to see how our table was doing,my date told him how much I loved the sopaillas and the manager was delighted and asked if I wanted to any more to take home with me. The sopaipillas are complimentary . This a must go to spot in Sante Fe!
I go here every time I am in NM. Good consistent quality, friendly people. I love everything I have had here. Christmas sauce on burrito. Mmmmm. But the sopapilla are the best!!! I know they are simple, but they do a great job with them! Wish I had some right now! Definitely a go to place for casual sw...
We went on a Monday for an early lunch. There was a short line but we were seated quickly. We were greeted promptly by our server even though she was busy. We ordered a variety of items, nachos, Chile relleno, combo burrito, and I got the grilled veggies enchiladas. The grilled veggies were a mix of onion, zucchini, peppers, and mushrooms. They were cooked but still had a little crunch to them, which is perfect IMO. I got Christmas and both sauces were delicious. I saw the sign warning that their sauce was spicy. I would have liked a little more heat but it was sufficient. The rice and beans were just OK. The sopapilla was light and airy. I would definitely return.
